Upcycling?

I always love how we take old concepts and remarket them to make them sound trendy and enticing...

I've recently heard of the word "upcycling" - meaning taking a second hand item and not only reusing it, but IMPROVING upon it - perhaps adding a pocket to a second hand shirt, for example....

Rather than saying "I've got my big sister's hand me downs on and I've sewn  this bit on it to make it my own," - NOW, we say, "Check out this UPCYCLED shirt I bought LOCALLY at the OP SHOP which is FAIR TRADE and CARBON NEUTRAL - 

Well, we found this little UPCYCLED item left from a birdie in the garden the other day - It's made from, among other things the nice cushions from our outdoor furniture which the dogs tore into shreds - 

Glad it could still be of use, don't you think?

** Please note that one can only make fun of things that one actually is secretly really into... making one a complete hypocrite... but, I can embrace that in exchange for a good laugh - hope you are having a lovely weekend!
